Borghese Museum Gardens – Rome

One of my favorite museums in Rome is the Museo Borghese. The museum hosts some of the most beautiful collections of paintings, mosaics, and statues to be found. Works by Bernini, Raffaello, Caravaggio, and many others are featured as well as statues and mosaics dating back to the ancient Greek and Roman eras.
The Borghese is the converted palace of Cardinal Scipione an avid art collector of his time. His collection is well worth the price of admission. Tickets must be purchased well in advance as reservations are required to enter the museum. Curators limit the number of guests that can enter at one of the prescribed times and this adds to the experience by keeping the crowds to a minimum.
In other posts I focus on the art inside of the Borghese Museum, but here I illustrate the exterior of this magical place.
The museum is located in the Borghese Gardens of Rome and is surrounded by some of Rome’s prettiest natural spaces. Statues from every period are everywhere throughout the gardens . Small lakes, serene pathways, and botanical gardens make a visit a must when in Rome.
Beautifully manicured gardens are everywhere. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to stroll around and visit see everything. The Borghese Gardens are the Central Park of Rome.
