The Roman Forum was at the center of ancient Rome’s political, commercial, and judicial life. It is a long rectangular shaped area filled with the ruins of buildings and temples and surrounded by various government buildings. It is open to the public and is a must see in Rome.

Most of what can be seen in the forum dates to the reign of Julius Caesar and was constructed around 46BC.
