The Parthenon – Athens Greece

Built in 447 BC and dedicated to the Greek Goddess Athena, the Parthenon stands atop the Acropolis in the center of Athens Greece.
Any trip to Athens begins with a visit to this special place. Walking in the footsteps of  the ancient Greeks is inspiring. This is the birthplace of western civilization and the Parthenon is a symbol of the past that has stood for centuries.
The Parthenon is a magnificent structure. Beautiful and classical in it’s design, and although it is still being restored you are intimidated by it’s size and intricacy. Much of the original art and sculptures that adorned the Parthenon are now gone. Many of the artifacts are now in the British Museum and the Acropolis Museum but many only survived in literature.
I will let the photos of this beautiful temple speak for themselves.
Enjoy.
