In Piazza San Marco there are many caffes and restaraunts but a favorite of mine is the Caffe Lavena. Many locals visit the caffe even though it resides in a tourist hot spot so you know it has to be good.

Caffe lavena offers seating outside in the piazza but there is a service charge for each person. What the tourists don’t know but the locals do is that you can go inside and stand in the bar and have prosecco and snacks at a very reduced rate.

The bartenders treated us to a variety of snacks to go with our glasses of prosecco. The more you tip the more they bring out. Funny how that works.

The caffe is under the portico in the piazza and offers a full menu and desserts too.
