I took the hop on, hop off bus tour while in DC and one of the stops was the Washington Union Station. Inside the trains still run and there are restaurants, cafes, shops, and beautiful architecture.
Almost nowhere else in the US do you see buildings decorated with this classic detail.
The station opened in 1907 and is very much alive to this day.
The exterior portico keeps travelers in the shade as they wait for family and friends to arrive.
