Driving through Tuscany is such a treat. It feels like every large hilltop is home to another little medieval town that you must see. This is the Chianti region of Tuscany, wine country for sure, but also the land of wonderful meats, cheeses, and olive oil.

I love to grab my lunch from these shops. You can sample the foods and then grab what want to go for a picnic in Tuscany.

Cheese made locally are some of the best I have ever eaten. I love the soft lamb cheeses and I always grab a big chunk to take with me!

These little shops sell great Italian wines of the region and other goods such as tomato spreads, olive spreads, and the like.

As expected, every little hilltop Tuscan town has it’s church. Usually at the top of the hill and surrounded by a piazza.

Walking up and down these streets makes me thirsty! Prosecco please bartender.

The variety and flavors of cheeses here is wonderful.

Don’t be shy about driving off the main highways to visit these little hilltop towns. Each has it’s own charm and walking their streets really takes you back to a simpler time.
