Ahhh beautiful Santorini. A true jewel of Greece located in the Agean Sea, Santorini is an island that was formed from a violent volcanic past and it’s current form is the result of many past eruptions. Santorini is the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions ever recorded which occurred some 3,600 years ago. Since that time the island has endured several other major eruptions and damaging earthquakes the last of which took place in the 1950’s. Now Santorini consists of a group of islands that surround the caldera of the ancient volcano and has become a tourist hot spot for travelers across the globe.

Santorini’s major town of Fira sits along the clifftops and overlooks the caldera. This is classic Santorini.

The many beautiful white washed buildings on Santorini are home to hotels, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops.

Restaurants and bars line the cliffs of Fira and on a warm Mediterranean day make it a perfect setting to relax with a cold Greek beer and enjoy the views.

Getting around Santorini is as easy as renting a car or taking a taxi. Many people hire drivers that will tour you around the island and there are winery tours and other interesting sights to visit if you so choose. Most of the Santorini shoreline is only accessible by boat and there are several companies offering sailing excursions.
