Pisa – Tuscany Italy

The iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most famous landmarks in all of Italy. Located in the Tuscan city of Pisa, this architectural wonder draws visitors from throughout the world. The bell tower was constructed in the 12th century and it was during construction that the tower began to tilt due to foundational issues.
Visitors to Pisa can purchase tickets and make the climb to the top of the tower. The 188 foot tower was constructed in three stages over a span of 199 years.
The tower sits beside the Pisa Baptistery and the Pisa Cathedral, two strikingly impressive structures in their own right. The grounds of the square are open and expansive and very beautiful.
The Pisa city center is filled with restaurants, bars, shopping, hotels, and other interesting buildings. It is a major tourist destination and draws architecture students from all over the world as well. Give yourself time to wander the streets.
Today, Pisa is a large thriving city situated in Tuscany just at the point the Arno river empties into the ocean.
Street side cafes provide a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a meal or just a drink.
